Distillation Labware

Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

100mL all-purpose receiver for general distillation work. Equipped with a complete stopcock manifold to allow contents of the receiver to be removed to a single receiving flask without disturbing the vacuum of the system

Condenser, Gooseneck, Large, 29/42 Inner Joint, Distilling. Unique one-piece distilling condenser is actually a 75º adapter, highly efficient coil condenser and vacuum adapter in a compact one-piece unit. Available with a choice of three sizes of condensers with uptake inner joint as listed. Top thermometer joint is a 10/30 outer for use with a 3in immersion CG-3506 thermometer. Receiver joint on all sizes is a 24/40 inner having a sealed-in drip tip.

Complete system consists of 500mL distillation flask, still body, cow receiver, gas inlet tube, threaded adapter, 3 250mL receiver flasks and a thermometer.

Adapter, Vacuum Take-Off, Style "A", 105¿, 45/50 Joint Size. With standard taper top outer and lower inner joints with sealed in drip tip. Adapter is bent at a 105¿ angle for use in vacuum distillation. Serrated hose connection has an O.D. of 10mm at the largest serration for connection to vacuum source.

Chemglass Life Sciences Bump Trap, 500mL, Rotary Evaporator, Modified, 24/40 Top Outer, 29/42 Lower Inner
Bump Trap, 500mL, Rotary Evaporator, Modified, 24/40 Top Outer, 29/42 Lower Inner. Similar to CG-1320, but with the addition of two 4mm drain holes at the base of the inner tube to allow solvent to drain back into the evaporation flask. Traps have a 24/40 top outer joint and the listed size of lower inner joint.

10mL Flowmeter, Bubble. Used for the control of carrier gases. Projection at top breaks bubbles. Supplied complete with rubber bulb. Hose connection has a O.D. of 9mm at the middle ring.
